It seems (see my note of December 31st 2013) that Cleveland volcano is going through a new episode of activity. An AVO report released on January 2nd indicates that the volcanic alert level and the aviation colour code have both been raised to Orange. Three explosions were recorded on December 28th and 30th and another one on January 2nd. Minor ash plumes less than 4,500 metre a.s.l. were observed on satellite images. The possibility of more large-scale explosions led to the increase of the alert levels.
